MADISON, MO -- Flagship Technologies, Inc. announces release of
an updated version 1.1 of ManagePLUS™ for QuickBooks, the
company's farm accounting add-on for the popular QuickBooks
accounting program.
The new version lets QuickBooks users record two physical
quantities in any income or expense transaction--such as the weight and
number of animals bought or sold. ManagePLUS reports total and
summarize the quantity and dollar information. They provide quantity
and dollar breakdowns by Account and by enterprise Class, and
provide quantity-based statistics like average weight per head,
average price per head and per pound, average cost per acre, average
repair cost per machine hour, and so on.
Other program improvements include added flexibility, new
behind-the-scenes automation features, and an updated Help system.
Quicken and QuickBooks may be the most popular computer software
ever for farm and ranch accounting. Their low cost, simplicity, and
easy basic record keeping has won many followers.
Still, both programs lack important features that farmers and
ranchers want. ManagePLUS was developed to supplement Quicken and
QuickBooks with these specific enhancements:
Allow quantity information to be associated with any income
or expense transaction.
Provide easy quantity reporting and summary information.
Provide simple farm enterprise analysis.
The old version of ManagePLUS for QuickBooks offered most of the
important enhancements, but could not supply some of the information
desired by livestock producers in particular. Because the new
version supports entry of two quantities in QuickBooks transactions,
it now meets more of the critical information needs of livestock
producers and others.
According to company president Mark Wilsdorf, "Being able to
keep track of two quantities in a QuickBooks transaction is
important, but what our users really like is how ManagePLUS reports
the information. For example, ManagePLUS can tell a cow-calf
producer the total dollars, total weight, and total number of calves
sold during any time period, as well as their average weight and the
average price received per head and per pound. And it provides this
information with no extra effort on the user's part--using just the
information from his QuickBooks or Quicken records."
According to Wilsdorf, many non-livestock users also like the new
dual quantity feature. "One of our ManagePLUS users, a Kansas
hay producer, records both the weight and number of bales for each
load of hay he sells. Based on this information his ManagePLUS
reports will show average weight per bale, and the average price
received per bale and per ton. And because he's using enterprise
Classes, he will also have a breakdown of this kind of information
for each grade of alfalfa he sells--Prime, Number 1, Number 2,
etc."
Here are some of the enhancements ManagePLUS adds to Quicken or
QuickBooks:
|
Record physical quantities
(bushels, pounds, gallons, etc.) in any transaction. |
|
Record dual
quantities--such as weight and number of livestock sold--if
desired. |
|
Record quantities as mathematical
formulas if desired. (Preserves transaction details while at
the same time adjusting pounds to tons, bushels, etc., or other
calculations.) |
|
Associate units of
production with enterprise Classes--like "300
acres" with the Corn Class--so reports can provide per-unit
(per-acre, per-head, etc.) cost & revenue information. |
|
Reports
include quantity totals by Account and enterprise Class, plus
calculated quantity information like average weight per head,
price per head, and price per pound. |
|
Month-by-month cash
flow and "quantity
flow" reports. |
|
Per-unit-of-production
management information like feed cost per head, herbicide
cost per acre, repair costs per combine hour, pounds of mineral
per beef cow, etc. |
