A common use of FormCalc is for calculating shipping weights on invoices.

Here is a QuickBooks invoice set up for doing just that. It has a column containing the per-unit weight of each Item, and a blank column where FormCalc will calculate the extended weight on each line (quantity * per-unit weight).

What did FormCalc do here?

❖It multiplied the Quantity column by the Weight column, and put the result in the Extd Weight column.

❖It subtotaled the Extd Weight column in both the OVERNIGHT DELIVERY and TRUCK FREIGHT sections of the invoice, putting the result on the SubtotWt Item lines.

❖It totaled the Extd Weight column for the entire invoice, putting the result on the TotalWt Item line.
